1. Now, once I had a feeling that I'd like to be alone
I owed a lot of money so I went off on me own
And found a place not on the map, without cab,train or tram
In Wales, thought. I, I'm safer here. No one knows where I am
But when I started out next morn to give the girls a treat
The moment I left home and started walking down the street
I met everybody I knew, everybody I knew
There was the butcher, the baier, the tailor,the mare of the ??man too
So I dashed up the street like a hare and into the first house I Hew
T'was a police court and I was pushed in the dock and met everybody I knew
Even my solicitor!

2. Now, once I forgot that I was wed
And from the Rose and Crown
I took the bar maid motoring to a spot outside the town
Somewhere about a mile from home
I meant the girl to drop
But I pulled every lever and the dashed thing wouldn't stop!
The barmaid near me fainted and I sat there like a clown
The bless-ed car whizzed on and took us right back through the town
And I met everybody I knew.Well, everybody I knew
I nearly ran over the woman next door
And ?????she did look so blue
And outside of the house was the wife
With the children to welcome me too
And to finish the drive I went into a bramble and everybody I knew!

I knew 'em all! Everyone!

3. Now, once I felt motor happy and made up my mind that I
Would take a dose of laudanum
I did but didn't die
I dreamed I died and went below
The way seemed long and fear(?)
And I said to myself, " My word, I shall be lonely here!"
But when I pulled the bell-rope and the door it opened wide
It nearly took me breath away for when I walked inside
I met everybody I knew! Everybody I knew
There was old ??and ??, Guy Fawkes and ???too!
Then me dream took a change of a scene that right up to heaven I flew
And there was ? Hardy there all on his own
And there wasn't a soul that I knew
Didn't know a single soul!!!
